Andrew Link and Nick Bentley at their past firm worked with ICG to develop a bold, transformative vision for Brighton Marina.
Through a masterplan designed by Squire and Partners, the team created a vibrant new destination for living, working, and leisure on the city’s iconic waterfront. The proposals introduce up to 1,000 new homes, major new public spaces, and a mix of retail, commercial, and community uses.
Our primary ambition was to address local housing needs with a blend of private and affordable homes. Phase One alone aims to deliver 480 thoughtfully designed one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, catering to individuals, couples, and families.
These homes are distributed across eight mid-rise buildings, ranging from eight to 19 storeys, anchored by a striking 28-storey tower. In response to feedback from the Council, this "beacon" is intended to act as a landmark for Brighton’s future-facing development, while respecting the unique character of the marina.
Another key objective was to reconnect Brighton Marina with the wider city. To achieve this, new pedestrian and cycle-friendly routes were devised, alongside landscaped public spaces and gardens, improving access between the marina, the seafront, and central Brighton.
Sustainability and resilience are embedded throughout the design. Landscaped environments and gardens have been specifically tailored to thrive in the marine conditions, ensuring the development complements and enhances its coastal setting.
