Project
Hampstead Green (Belle Vue)
Location
Hampstead, London
Client
PegasusLife (now Lifestory)
Belle Vue is a retirement living development by Lifestory, designed by Morris+Company and completed in 2019. The scheme comprises 59 apartments across four interlinked buildings, ranging from four to ten storeys, and integrates contemporary architecture with wellness-focused amenities including a pool, gym, therapy rooms, restaurant, and landscaped communal areas.
When Andrew Link and his team took over project management, the development was in a critical state. The previous management company had allowed works to begin without the necessary planning consents, resulting in significant delays and a breakdown in trust with local stakeholders.
Andrew acted swiftly to stabilise the project: he secured the outstanding permissions, re-established clear lines of communication with neighbours and the local authority, and restored confidence in the scheme’s future. Under his leadership, demolition works recommenced properly, and the design was progressed successfully through RIBA Stages 2 and 3.
By the time the project was handed over to his construction team under a construction management contract, Andrew had transformed a mismanaged and stalled development into a well-structured, forward-moving scheme with renewed stakeholder trust. His effective project recovery at Hampstead Green led to his appointment on another of the client’s flagship schemes, where fresh energy and leadership was again required.
