The Gas Works is set to become York’s most sought-after city centre residential development.

Spanning over nine acres of revitalised brownfield land, the scheme will deliver more than 600 new apartments, each finished to the highest standards and complemented by outstanding amenity spaces.

At the heart of the development lies a 26,910 sq ft landscaped communal green, featuring a children's play area, an exercise trail, community allotments, and over 100 newly planted trees to promote biodiversity and create a thriving neighbourhood environment.

The three apartment towers are thoughtfully set back from the street, allowing for expansive lawned gardens that soften the transition between buildings and public realm. A diverse mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments — including duplexes and dual- and triple-aspect units — ensures a wide range of living options for residents.

On-site amenities will include a concierge service, gym, coffee shop, and deli, enhancing the everyday living experience.

Under Neil’s leadership, the project successfully navigated the planning process, securing Reserved Matters approval and preparing the site for development. His strategic guidance and hands-on management were critical in transforming the complex brownfield site into a deliverable, high-value residential scheme.

Before construction could begin, significant remediation works were undertaken, including the removal of historic gas holders, associated infrastructure, and the complex diversion of a major gas pipeline still serving the city.
